You the User – peer-to-peer UX recruitment
I would like to draw attention to a peer-to-peer marketplace for UX recruitment in and around London that has begun this week. It’s early days but the feedback is good and obviously it is a sum of its parts: the more members, the more jobs/opportunities.
The idea is to complement existing UX recruitment agencies, providing a service for individuals and small companies to access UX professionals directly at competitive rates (and with no agency costs) – the maximum rates stay with the members.
Idea also to enhance offering by providing a UX-style ‘Mechanical Turk’ service to enable and encourage more junior and less experienced members of the UX community to gain work from the more experienced members of the UX community.

Selection criteria:
Members who accept work pay a percentage on completion to member who offers work. Percentages based on type of work and what is agreed between parties. This may take the form of money, exchanged favours, gifts, credits or non payment intern-style work experience. Ultimately the agreement will be made between the relevant parties and there is no requirement for it to be published on You the User.
Strength in a network
All participating members supported by a recognised and reputable network of other individuals. Idea that network goes beyond just supplying work to members but offers an infrastructure to learn, discover and exchange experience, knowledge and ideas.
