Crit circuit

I have been thinking of setting up a Brighton critique circuit for a while. It sort of fits under the umbrella of UX Brighton and Danny suggested I put something on here so here it is. I’m happy to chat about this on Tuesday if more people are interested.

I have spoken to a couple of people and think there is enough interest for one group. Hopefully there will be enough for a couple of groups.

The format I’m proposing would be something like this. Five or six people in a group(’s) that meet every week or possibly every other week meet for a critique lasting two hours (twenty minutes per person) lead by one member of the group. The group leader is responsible for ensuring that the critique’s stay on topic and comments are constructive and relevant. This would go on for nine sessions or so.

Ideally there will be more than one group. The group would then split up and swap half and half with another group and start the whole process again. The idea of swapping groups is that knowledge / processes people are using is shared in the group will then be dissipated throughout the UX community quickly. I’m not sure how it will work and or how feasible this is at the moment, and will require the people in the group to commit to turn up to at least the sessions for that particular round. I think the critique’s should be run on the basis of Chatham rules. Thanks to Tom for inspiration here.

I still need ideas for when and where to run the crits. If anyone wants to add something feel free.

There’s a good post on Scott Berkun’s blog about how to run a critique that worth a look.
So if you would be interested, put you name down here for the time being.
